From the Maths department at Pius Font I Quer secondary school in Manresa, we present a collection of ready to use teaching materials that are easy to operate to work on different Maths competences. The tools we are going to present have been designed by students from different interdisciplinary credits. The activities that we put forward are ideas that teachers have to develop and adapt to their students’ knowledge level.
.
FLAT FIGURE TOOLS
Instruments that let us build flat figures and identify visually their elements and justify geometric properties.
dESIGN TOOLS
Instruments that allow us to not only represent geometric elements but also infer their properties from simple models.
transformaTION TOOLS
Instruments that give us the opportunity to study and represent different transformations in the plane. Activities can either be of direct application or of justification and verification of its operation.
CURVE AND SURFACE DESIGN TOOLS
Very easy to operate material that lets more advanced students generate and justify different types of curves and surfaces.
DIRECT AND INDIRECT MEASURING TOOLS AND CALCULUS INSTRUMENTS
With these instruments students will be able to put into practice geometric concepts and procedures related to flat figures, proportionality, Thales theorem, similarity, among others. The activities that we suggest caneither be of direct application or of justification and verification of its operation.
DYNAMIC PROOFS
As we create all this didactic material that lets us focus on geometric, algebraic and numerical properties, we intend that our students understand, from an early stage at secondary school, concepts such as the Pythagoras theorem, sum of squares, sum of odd numbers …
Strategy games
With the production of strategy board games we intend to spread games with very simple rules among students, with enough mathematical potential to develop inductive and trial strategies, among others.
PUZZLES AND TOPOLOGICAL GAMES
It will come out soon!.
